On the shores of the Lac de Soustons and near the town centre, the Isle Verte Sports Centre was modernised in 2020 to welcome professional and elite sports teams as well as amateur teams. This is where rowing really comes into its own. The centre is a one-stop hub and offers:
- Adapted, renovated and spacious accommodation (several types of lodging facilities) with extra-large beds for very tall athletes
- Tailor-made catering to meet the requirements of technical staff (local and seasonal produce)
- sports and technical areas
- Leisure activities on site (stand-up paddle, mountain biking, forest hikes, etc.)
A DEDICATED STRETCH OF WATER
The lake facilities and the reception capacities at the Water Sports Centre have made it a popular training and preparation site for the French teams as well as those from Germany and the Netherlands, in addition to rowing clubs from Spain, Great Britain, Germany, etc.
- The 4.5-km long lake is ideal for rowing without the presence of motor boats.
- 6 adjacent lanes marked out with the Albano system, straight and equal-width lanes along the whole length of the course.
- The buoys are placed 10 metres apart.
- For the first 100 metres, the buoys are placed 5 metres apart to help guide boats at the beginning of the course.
- Distance markers are positioned on each line of buoys, in exactly the same place, using a different colour from the main buoys.
- Every 500 metres, there is a marker on both sides of the lake to indicate the remaining distance to be covered.
- The starting tower has been constructed to ensure that the starter has a good view of the entire starting area, including the aligner’s hut.
- The starting tower is positioned 50 metres behind the start line. It stands on the shore.
- There are 3 starting pontoons for launching.
