What is the aim of the course? ?

This is our 6th week of training since the beginning of July and it’s our 3rd training camp in Soustons, so the aim for us is to bring together the best potential players in French women’s 7-a-side and 15-a-side rugby and to follow them and obviously offer them an intensive development camp.

So this week we’re training with the under-18s. We have players in the Olympic academy who range in age from 18 to 23, and this week we’re sharing a week with the U18s; the aim is simply to take advantage of having the best potential and to increase the quality and pace of our training. This is the last course we’ll be doing. This first part, the girls will now be mainly at club level because the championship is about to start. When the French women’s team finishes its tour, the championship will start and then there will be the selections.
So the 7-a-side World Series is about to start, and of course preparations for the Olympic Games for the French 7-a-side team and the women’s Six Nations tournament, as well as the Under-20s.
So we have players with the best potential to play for these three teams: the French national team, the French 7s and the U20s.

WHY SOUSTONS ?

It’s the proximity. Today in Soustons, you’re on the pitch, you’ve got accommodation next door, you’ve got quality catering, you can sleep well, recover well – there’s nothing worse than having to commute every day for a training camp and so on. That’s what we call a lot of mental workload, and it comes down to the quality of the training.
