The South Coast of the Landes, in particular the town of Soustons and the Sports Centre of Isle Verte, would like to wish Monaco 7 good luck for their participation in the final stage of the In Extenso Supersevens Rugby circuit at Paris La Défense Arena on Sunday 21 October 2023.
Let’s take a look back at their preparation at the Soustons Games Preparation Centre, where Stéphane Seediki and his team gave them a very special welcome.                      New episode in our series 👉 [ I’ll be training with you ].

What is the aim of the course?

To prepare for the final stage of the In Extenso Super Sevens in Pau. We’re doing video analysis on key points: kick-outs, our defensive positioning, etc. So in general, when we explain things to the players in person, it’s just a question of explaining what we’re doing. So generally when we explain things to the players in person, it’s quite complicated, but when they see it on video, it’s immediately more meaningful. So doing it just before training means that the player is aware of what we’re asking of him so that he can apply it straight away on the pitch.
Tuesday afternoon training is the one with the highest intensity. Tomorrow the boys are off, so this afternoon is the one they don’t generally like.

WHY SOUSTONS ?

It’s a well-known and recognised venue for 7s rugby, and we know that the New Zealanders have already been here and will be back, and Top 14 teams come here, so obviously in terms of infrastructure there are three rugby pitches, accommodation right next to the rugby pitch, and sports catering.
Everything is perfect, there’s cryotherapy, so whether it’s medical or sporting, everything is available.

THE NEXT EVENTS ?

The Pau stage closes the three qualifying stages for the Super Sevens final.
After that, on 22 October, we’re already qualified, because for the moment we’re in first place in the overall rankings, so we’re already qualified for the final, which will take place in Paris. So that’s obviously a big date for us too, because our aim, even if we haven’t won a stage yet, is to defend our title of Champion of France.
