At the beginning of July 2023, Olivier Krumbholz, coach of the French Women’s Handball Team, returned to the Capbreton Games Preparation Center with an increasingly motivated squad.
It was an opportunity for the entire team and staff to take advantage of the facilities they know so well, and to test out the new ones. A complete and intense period to get back to the team, with the added bonus of a raid at the Isle Verte Centre in Soustons – which has also been awarded the “Isle Verte” label. Sport, teamwork, sweat and, above all, smiles.

OLIVIER KRUMBHOLZ – COACH – LOOKS BACK AT THE AIM OF THE TRAINING CAMP

Work, work, work! The aim is to work in all areas, to work physically. They’ve had a bit of a vacation, so we need to get them back on track for what’s going to be a complex, long and important season, and work on tactics even if we’re not at full strength, respond to the individual needs of the players by personalizing the work as much as possible, and provide support in all aspects of performance, whether technical, tactical, medical or mental. Supporting them to enable them to perform.

WHY CAPBRETON ?

We love it because it’s great, because all the conditions are right for quality work here on the sports field. It’s a bit of a vacation from work, which pleases them and us. Drinking a coffee by the sea after a hard day’s work is an immense pleasure. And maybe that helps us recover from all the hard work we’ve put in.

AND THE EQUIPMENT ?

The floor is of high quality. Many things have been redone, renovated or are new. So it’s an ultra-modern sports park, and both indoor and outdoor, we have all the conditions we need to work very well.

RAID IN SOUSTONS WITH LUCIE GRANIER AND TAMARA HORACEK

This afternoon was all about getting together and helping each other with a range of activities.
We went canoeing for, I think, 40 minutes or 1 hour, followed by a Run & Bike mixed with an orienteering race. I’m happy because we managed to do it all and it was mostly a team effort and the main thing is to participate, to give it your all and that’s what we do, so it was all good. Yes, it was nice, it was difficult, it was long, before that, we’d cycled 25 kilometers to get here, so it was a nice afternoon! No, the cycling was fine, it was the canoeing, the 5km. That was hard!

WHAT’S NEXT?

I know there’s a huge desire in this team to perform again, to win medals again, and then to go and get the ultimate result in Paris. I have every confidence in them. We’re in the process of winning back and we’re going to improve in all areas.
