From Monday, January 23 to February 3, 2023, the French national team has chosen the grounds of Capbreton to prepare the VI Nations tournament. The City of Capbreton has offered them a tailor-made welcome. Let’s receive their impressions throughout this training course !

Tuesday 24th of January, POINT WITH Ethan Dumortier & Paul Boudehent

What difference does it make to work in Capbreton instead of Marcoussis ? Is it friendlier ? What does it concretly change for you ?

Ethan Dumortier :.. um for the temperature I don’t think  so, upstream what we don’t see (…)(…) is that the entire staff and many people from here ,have done a tremendous work to put us in the best diposition. The hotel is privatized : we are in on own into the hotel. Marcoussis’s weigh room has been entirely moved here, I’ve got changing room, we have all the computers to work on the strategy of each team, so in fact we are almost like in Marcoussis. The goal was also to discover something different, to prepare. Because during the World Cup there will be a part (of the preparation) in Capbreton, so the objective was also to assimilate the place a bit, as not to be completely confused during the World Cup. Honestly, I feel that way, you don’t really feel like you’re in a different place. Everything is organized for performance, and for being in the best dispositions.
Except that in Marcoussis you don’t have the ocean ?

Exactly … 😉

Wednesday 25th of January, POINT WITH Reda Wardi-Romain Buros

Does a training course in Capbreton change a little bit from Marcoussis ?

Romain Buros : for the guys who have been around for a while, it breaks a bit the routine of leaving in Marcoussi. Because it can be boring after years. I think everyone is happy to be here. The facilities are great so it’s really good for working.

Dealing with training face to the local rugby school kids, were you those child ? …..

Romain Burons : on my side, I had the Aturin Avenir Club, where I started. It’s a great thing, I wish I had been in their place when I was little. I think a great afternoon was organized.

Is the public something you are also enthusiastic about?

Reda Wardi : it’s always pleasant to have people behind us during training, so we’ll say it’s a pleasure.

Did you ever get players to sign autographs when you were kids?

Reda Wardi : Yes, when i was young, I used to go to watch professional matches. Therefore, we took the opportunity to sign autographs like today. It was good times and I guess, the kids enjoyed this moment today.

Thursday 26th of January, POINT WITH Laurent Labit

A word concerning the facilities, it’s spacious, it’s vast, grounds everywhere… For you, it must be very pleasant to prepare in such conditions?

Laurent Labit : Yes of course, this is the aim constantly sought to optimize everything. The framework must of course be adapted to the desired playing environment and to the living environment. It’s true that the spaces we have here; facilities, material and human resources, infrastructure provided by the town of Capbreton, really allow us to work in very, very good conditions.

Friday 27th of January, POINT WITH Julien Delbouis – Thomas Lavault

Tomorrow, Saturday 28th of January, you still have a training session with an audience, more than 2000 people. Does it feel good? Does it boost a bit?

Julien Delbouis :  Yes, of course. Anyway, this is a World Cup year, and the beginning of the Six Nations tournament. The enthusiasm behind the french team, especially when it wins like that, it’s incredible, it feels good. There are so many people attending training, I had never seen it before. It’s something incredible.

Were you surprised by the public’s enthusiasm on Wednesday ? So many people came to sign autographs. Did you expect that?

Thomas Lavault  : We were told that ; there would be many people, all that all seats were sold out in 15 seconds. There was a lot of excitement in the area. So yes, we expected it. The kids made some noise and it was a good time to share at the end of practice.

Is it good to change from Marcoussis ?

Thomas Lavault : yes, yes it is good to change … laughs … but he is Parisian 😉

Julien Delbouis : it would have suited me more, it was closer to home (laughs). Nevertheless, here there is a very nice infrastructure. But it lacks a bit of sun in winter but waking up with the ocean in front of the hotel…it’s great!

Saturday 28th of January, point with Yoram Moefana &Thibaud Flament

Have you ever beeen in Capbreton? Have you ever been on vacation here? How do you find the facilities and local life?

Yoram Moefana : (laughs) not on holiday: I was injured (laughs), I visited the European Sport Reduction Centre, ….it was suny. The facilites are really awesome, it is very good for us. In addition, the European Sport Reduction Centre has given us access to recovery areas (with the cold and the hot bath). We’re really very, very comfortable….

Thibaud Flament :  We are very well established to the hotel and the European Rehabilitation Centre too. The supporters came twice to visit us,  they made a lot of noise … It was a pleasure to share theese moments with them … we were well welcomed …,  we tried to please them too.

Beautiful memory for all, Capbreton – Rugby land
