The Norwegian women’s Handball team came to the region in July 2021 to meet their French counterparts for a friendly match. They made the most of their visit to stay for several days as part of their preparation programme.

We caught up with Thoris Hergeirsson (coach) and Camilla Herrem (captain)

The complex is great, it has excellent fitness facilities, and everything is brought together at the same site. We can cycle to our training sessions and the sea is nearby for surfing and sunbathing. 😂

Why did you choose to come here?

Thorir : Because Olivier and the French federation invited us to come here to play two matches, then we asked if we could come a little bit earlier and have extra week here to prepare for the Olympics, so it was a good alternative for us because it’s nice play to stay with very good facilities.

The good points of being here?

Thorir : For the first you have all things, all the things very close, you live in a hotel, we are the only people in the hotel we have it for our own. It is a short way to go to training, in the hall in the venue, it is nice hall, good facilities also for fitness training. Everything is compact together and we use the bicycle to travel to the training and back and you have the sea, the surf and to sunbathing, the girl they like a little bit in the sun so it is super.

Camilla : My name is Camilla Herrem from the national team of Norway.

How is the week going?

Camilla : It has been very nice until now, the weather is good, as we for sure love, and the facilities are so good, strength room is perfect and the hall is very nice so we are enjoying ourselves.

Differences between here and Norway?

Camilla : I think right now in Norway the weather is very stable and nice but here when you wake up you take the curtain away and you just see the ocean and its very nice. The atmosphere is so good and of course the place where we live, where we go it is so beautiful so yeah. We bicycle to training everyday, so it’s two times we train everyday so it’s a lot on the bicycle. (laughs)
